Since 1994, the month of February has been known as Potato Lover’s Month (PLM). Brands and retailers come together to pay homage to our spud. The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) sponsors contests and festivities,  Idaho® potato products are promoted and new recipes rolled out.

We’re getting hungry just thinking about it!

The Foerstel team has been all-in every year to make sure this event has an eye-catching design. Every one of us has had a part in evolving this design since we came on in 2000, and we thought it might be time to take a stroll down memory lane.

Here’s the tater timeline, taking us all the way back to ‘94:

How do you create a unique theme each year, while making it recognizable as one event?

Redesigning the same campaign annually is a difficult thing, and everyone here has contributed to the PLM evolution. Luckily we have a great client that trusts us, and our creative talents, to make this annual event spud-tacular!

We’re looking forward to next year’s event and already working on the new logo. February can’t come soon enough!

Tom Foerstel

Founder & President

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 60’s, Tom developed a strong desire to create positive change for people and planet.

He went on to pursue his passion for art and design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and worked for design firms in Southern California before moving to Boise, Idaho in the early 80’s. Foerstel Design opened its doors in 1985. Since its inception, the firm has cultivated a bold, happy, forward-looking team focussed on creating distinct and effective work on behalf of their clients.

An integral part of Tom’s philosophy is giving back to the community in which he lives — a company cornerstone that drives Foerstel’s long history of providing pro-bono services to local non-profit humanitarian and arts programs.

One of Tom’s proudest personal achievements is his ability to say Supercalifragilisticexpyalidocious backwards.
