Urgent vs. Important

The past few years have caused consumers to think a lot about how human activities impact the planet. As a result, consumers are more adamant than ever about the importance of brands being transparent and intentional about their environmental commitments.

Making Recycling Easier

The lack of understanding about what can and cannot be recycled is recognized as a significant barrier to decreasing the amount of recyclable packaging in landfills. There are several steps a business can take to help make recycling initiatives easier for its consumers:

  1. Effective communication
  2. Replace plastics with paper-based packaging
  3. Continue decreasing the use of single-use plastic

Refill Your Way to Happiness

Over the past few years in malls, there has been a growing presence of refill stores that allow customers to fill up their own containers with bulk products. Technology plays a role in the refilling experience, and retailers will begin to process different options to make refilling seamless and convenient for consumers.

The Future Will Be All About Conscious Consumption

One trend that will continue to grow in the coming years includes a shift from sustainable packaging to responsible packaging. Responsible packaging includes packaging choices that align with the consumer’s lifestyle.

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 60’s, Tom developed a strong desire to create positive change for people and planet.

He went on to pursue his passion for art and design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and worked for design firms in Southern California before moving to Boise, Idaho in the early 80’s.
