The novelty of placing that cumbersome cassette into its slotted space, pressing play and remembering to rewind brings a strong sense of nostalgia to anyone who lived in the pre-DVD days. This bittersweet sentiment has been reinterpreted by skateboard and apparel brand 5BORONYC, which took the popular VHS cover sleeve artwork and placed it onto a series of decks.
The graphics are instantly recognizable — golden gradients surrounded by dated typography and abstract shapes and colors are immediately reminiscent of the 90s. The collection of eight designs serve as a throwback to the low-tech times, while simultaneously sending you down the streets in style.
