tankabarnewWe had the pleasure of working with a new client last year: Native American Natural Foods. The company makes meat-based snacks (mostly buffalo), with the mission of improving the health and wellness of all people and the planet, through innovative new food products based on the traditional values of Native Americans, and respect for all living things. The brand name is Tanka, which means “Live Life Powerfully.”
The product we focused on for our redesign was a protein bar made with grass-fed buffalo meat. Unique in the protein/energy bar category, and with 7 grams of gluten-free, natural protein in a 70-calorie bar, the product had a lot of potential that the previous packaging didn’t communicate well.
Our work restaged the complete brand experience for the entire line of products and it has been an enormous success. The client reports that sales have more than doubled, and Tanka bars are now the #1 meat snack in the natural channel over the last 12 months! To quote a very happy client:

“We would not have made this progress without the help of you and your team. We will never be able to thank you enough for all your work.”

Tom Foerstel

Founder & President

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 60’s, Tom developed a strong desire to create positive change for people and planet.

 

He went on to pursue his passion for art and design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and worked for design firms in Southern California before moving to Boise, Idaho in the early 80’s. Foerstel Design opened its doors in 1985. Since its inception, the firm has cultivated a bold, happy, forward-looking team focussed on creating distinct and effective work on behalf of their clients.

 

An integral part of Tom’s philosophy is giving back to the community in which he lives — a company cornerstone that drives Foerstel’s long history of providing pro-bono services to local non-profit humanitarian and arts programs.

 

One of Tom’s proudest personal achievements is his ability to say Supercalifragilisticexpyalidocious backwards.
