A style guide is used to clearly list the rules that go behind branding. Some of these rules extend to which fonts, colors, and messaging are permitted to use in your branding. All companies need to create a style guide because it helps ensure that your branding remains consistent in every way. Not only is consistency important to keep everything organized, but it also helps build trust with your potential customers and audience.
Style guides help you build a strong brand identity for your business. A strong style guide will help you build a brand identity that works together seamlessly, and that is catered perfectly for your audience. It is crucial to do extensive research before making decisions about your branding. Understand your audience and what they will respond to and design accordingly.
Once you have a style guide in place, it will become easier and more efficient for you to create branded content. You will not have to reinvent the wheel each time because you have already put in the time and effort to create these guidelines to follow ahead of time. Taking the time to assemble a strong style guide is worth it because you will free up time.
Style guides provide clarity for everyone who has their hands in creating content or marketing materials using your business’s branding. Everyone must be on the same page about what the guidelines are for your branding so all the content you put out is consistent.
Consistent branding will help your business look more professional to the world. Following a style guide is a great way to ensure everything you put out for your company looks as professional and polished as possible.

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 60’s, Tom developed a strong desire to create positive change for people and planet.
He went on to pursue his passion for art and design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and worked for design firms in Southern California before moving to Boise, Idaho in the early 80’s. Foerstel Design opened its doors in 1985. Since its inception, the firm has cultivated a bold, happy, forward-looking team focussed on creating distinct and effective work on behalf of their clients.
An integral part of Tom’s philosophy is giving back to the community in which he lives — a company cornerstone that drives Foerstel’s long history of providing pro-bono services to local non-profit humanitarian and arts programs.
One of Tom’s proudest personal achievements is his ability to say Supercalifragilisticexpyalidocious backwards.
