As the FTC works through their final revisions to the Green Guides, there is a great opportunity for your company to not only stand out from the competition, but to form a more solid and loyal relationship with your customers. The FTC Green Guides are intended to help marketers avoid
This morning while getting into the working groove after a holiday, Jeff one of the lead designers, was sitting at his desk when he looked out of our front windows to notice that there was a cat stuck high up on one of the connector pillars! We were all mortified
With a compact video cam, a blank slate and a single frosted doughnut, the foerstel creative team set out to devise a holiday greeting that would entertain, delight and amuse its audience. For at least 60 seconds anyway! Cameo appearance by Santa’s hand. Music by local legend Ben Burdick. Cookie
Last year we were very surprised by how many homeless people were out in the cold, and not able to fit into shelters or left outside between shelter openings. Because our office is at the crossroads of those shelters, we see it every day and wish we could help them
Will Whole Foods keep your product on their shelves? In June of this year, Whole Foods announced that, “all personal care products and cosmetics making an organic claim sold in its U.S. stores must be third-party certified by June 1, 2011.” If your organic personal care products are sold at
At Foerstel, we like to use both sides of our brain. For instance, here’s a recent science experiment that was discovered in the back of the refrigerator. Conclusion: raw, slightly cracked eggs tucked away in a darkly lit, cold environment produce rubber balls (although not round ones). We’ll keep you
Debbie is a genius. Well…Debbie had a genius idea. And a freakin’ genius one at that!! For more than a year a large, blank white wall in the office had been staring us in the face day after day. It was asking for something. Something unique. Something creative. And that’s
We were recently talking about little cars at work and it made me remember a car my dad bought when I was 9 or 10 years old. My brother and I used to sit in that car (just like the one in the picture) for hours and practice our clutch,
Hearing and seeing new things are all part of downtown Boise life. This morning was no exception. Hot air balloons were continually rising from above the Connector–probably about 15 in all. Boise is such a great place to live and work!
In an on-going effort to offer our clients up-to-date, relevant knowledge about packaging trends, we invited John Bernardo of Sustainable Innovations to hold a seminar at Foerstel last week on The Essentials of Sustainable Packaging. What an amazing and complex subject, as well as timely and important to our industry!
Around the office, we have always had an “inkling” that John marches to the beat of a different drummer. So the fact that this fellow designer has decided to take a 6-month sabbatical to work on a personal project has come as no surprise. John and his wife, Mati, have
Early last Wednesday morning, strong coffee in hand, Jim Hall and I made the 2 hour journey to Buhl, one of Southwest Idaho’s quaint farming towns. We volunteered to help with the Organic Farm Tour sponsored by NCAP (Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides). As members of NCAP and with

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 60’s, Tom developed a strong desire to create positive change for people and planet.
He went on to pursue his passion for art and design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and worked for design firms in Southern California before moving to Boise, Idaho in the early 80’s. Foerstel Design opened its doors in 1985. Since its inception, the firm has cultivated a bold, happy, forward-looking team focussed on creating distinct and effective work on behalf of their clients.
An integral part of Tom’s philosophy is giving back to the community in which he lives — a company cornerstone that drives Foerstel’s long history of providing pro-bono services to local non-profit humanitarian and arts programs.
One of Tom’s proudest personal achievements is his ability to say Supercalifragilisticexpyalidocious backwards.
