50 Seasons Under the Stars

As the Idaho Shakespeare Festival enters the final opening weekend of its 50th season with The Heart of Robin Hood, we’re taking a look back at some of the work we created to help celebrate this milestone year.

For a season this special, the goal was to build a visual world that felt just as memorable as the performances themselves. Bringing together illustration, bold color, and a little theatrical magic across every touchpoint.

01. a season brought to life through illustration

For the Festival’s 50th season, our team created two distinct illustrated posters, each telling a different part of the story.

The commemorative 50th season poster was inspired by the Festival grounds and the productions that have shaped its history. Hand-illustrated details celebrate the atmosphere, traditions, and variety of performances audiences have experienced over the past decades.

The season poster focused on this year’s lineup, bringing each production into one cohesive composition. Individual motifs inspired by The Winter’s Tale, Sweeney Todd, Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson, Robin Hood, and the rest of the season come together in a vibrant palette that captures the range and energy of the Festival’s 50th season.

02. from downtown boise to the festival grounds

The celebration extended beyond the poster and program.

Our team created custom illustrated banners for downtown Boise, adding bold color, playful performance-related details, and Shakespeare-inspired imagery throughout the city. Designed to be evergreen, the banners can continue welcoming theatergoers for seasons to come.

We also designed new banners for the Festival grounds, helping carry the aesthetic of the 50th season all the way to the theater and creating a visual welcome for guests as they arrive.

03. one more opening weekend

With The Heart of Robin Hood taking the stage for its opening weekend, we’re excited to see one final production join the visual story of this milestone season.

It has been a privilege to help celebrate 50 seasons of storytelling, creativity, and unforgettable summer nights at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival.
